PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia was forced to shut it’s No. 1 production line for four days and its No. 2 production line for six days due to a fire on Aug 3.

The fire took place at one of Nistrans Malaysia’s 130,000 square feet warehouse in Malacca, where  the fire swept through 90% of it, destroying 2,500 units of Honda’s CKD parts.

Nistrans Malaysia provides logistic and warehouse management services to Honda Malaysia. Their warehouse in Malacca stores all Honda’s CKD parts.

The blaze took fire fighters five hours to put out.

No casualties and injuries were reported from the incident and investigations are ongoing.

Currently, production on both lines has resumed and Honda Malaysia will monitor the parts supply situation on the production schedule.

“We are very sorry to hear about the fire and the loss experienced by our supplier and we are currently working closely with Nistrans to assist in any way possible,” said Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Yoichiro Ueno.

He added that Honda is doing its best to minimise impact onto its customers due to the unforeseen circumstances.
