Honda Malaysia recalls almost 148,000 vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia has issued a recall for 147,894 units of various Honda model to replace the front passenger airbag inflator.

The models involved are the Accord (2003-2011 Year Model), City (2009-2011 YM), Civic (2007-2011 YM), CR-V (2008-2011 YM), Freed (2009-2011 YM), Insight (2011 YM), Jazz (2009-2011 YM) and Odyssey (2004-2008 YM).

The company assured that priority goes to customer safety and has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

It further reiterated that all current models on sale are not affected and that the company will continue to uphold transparency and stringent controls to ensure customer safety is upheld.

All affected customers will be informed via a notification letter, which will include details of the recall.



Customers who receive the notification are advised to bring the letter and their vehicle(s) to the nearest authorized Honda dealer for inspection.

The replacement works will be carried out once the parts are ready and all charges related to this recall will be borne by the company.

Honda owners can also check their vehicle recall status by calling Honda Malaysia's Toll Free number at 1-800-88-2020 or log on to www.honda.com.my and type in your car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Chassis Number, or visit the nearest authorised Honda dealer.

The company is urging all affected Honda owners to have their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any authorised Honda dealer as soon as possible upon receiving the notification letter.
