PETALING JAYA: If you have just bought a new Honda car,  here's news for you.

Honda Malaysia says you are entitled to install the optional window tint films from RM1,500.

There are four types of tint films being offered (see table below), with 3M and Ecotint being contracted to supply the films.

Honda Malaysia said the films would also help hold glass fragments together in case the glass breaks in an accident.

The films are available in various thickness and comply with Road Transport Department (JPJ) regulations on permissible visible light transmittance (VLT). JPJ regulations state that front windscreen must have more than 70% VLT and side &Rear windscreens must have more than 50% VLT.

As they are "non-metallised" and are low infrared rejection, the films do not hinder the operation of GPS gadgets and the SmartTag toll device.

The film comes with a five-year warranty from the date of installation.

The tinting offer and installation is available at all 82 Honda dealers nationwide. 3M gets its films from Japan and South Korea while Ecotint sourced films from Sumitomo Osaka Cement.
