KUALA LUMPUR: Boon Siew Honda, the official distributor of the Honda motorcycles in Malaysia, has unveiled its new Wave Alpha in two 110cc variants, which will take over the reigns from the Wave 110.

With a two-year or 20,000km (which ever comes first) manufacturer’s warranty, the more affordable Wave Alpha costs (including GST) RM4,132.94 and comes with spoke wheels and drum brakes.

However, the more costly variant at RM4,556.94 comes with disc brakes and cast wheels to which the company touts as a value for money package after having dubbed it the ‘The Urban Dominator’.

The 97kg (wet) Wave Alpha has a wheelbase of 1,227mm (68mm trail) and comes in measuring 1,937mm-long, 703mm-wide and 1,086mm-tall, but the more costly variant is 5mm wider and just a 1kg heavier at 98kg.

Sipping from a 3.7-litre fuel tank, the single-piston 109.1cc air-cooled engine is equipped with an electric starter as well as a kicker and has a compression ratio of 9.0:1, while having a bore of 50mm and a stroke of 55.6mm.

A four-speed automatic gearbox manages power delivery to the rear of 8bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.6Nm of torque at 5,500rpm while rolling on 17-inch wheels with 70-90 (front) and 80/90 (rear) tyres.

Both variants of the new Honda Wave Alpha are available in three colour choices of Pearl Magellanic Black, Vivacity Red and Pearl Metalloid White.

“The Wave series is popular among Malaysians because of the performance, affordability, stylish and high quality,” said Boon Siew Honda managing director and chief executive officer Koji Onishi.

He also said that he was confident that the new Wave Alpha will once again “win the hearts of many Malaysian motorcyclists.”
