Hyundai Ioniq 5 N testing takes it to Nurburgring

A performance version of the Ioniq 5 will be introduced in 2023, and it will have around 600hp on tap.

PETALING JAYA: If you thought the Hyundai Ioniq 5 performance was impressive enough, wait till you get your hands on the Ioniq 5 N.

The N variant is currently undergoing dynamic testing and will be launched next year. It will pave the way as the first sportiest EV from the brand.

The N car in camouflage had recently been spotted racing on Germany's Nurburgring track and it looked to have minimal body roll as the test driver pelted it around the corners, belying the heavy battery it has to lug around.

As the most powerful Ioniq 5, it will have around 600hp/447kW, which is close to the output from the dual motor Kia EV6 GT. This suggests the N car will share some parts with the EV6 GT.

Both cars are after all based on the E-GMP architecture, so parts sharing is the norm. We can expect aerodynamic enhancements and a more aggressive bodykit to make the N stand out from its non-M counterpart.

Hyundai will also toss in suspension upgrades, bigger tyres and brakes as well as a drift mode to ensure the Ioniq 5 justify the N badging.
