DETROIT: Infiniti is showcasing the Q Inspiration Concept at the auto show here, giving the public a preview of what future Infiniti cars could look like.
The concept proposes how an innovative VC-Turbo powertrain, next-level autonomous drive technologies, and a human-centric interior could enrich the experience of drivers in the mid-size sedan segment.
The all-new concept car is the first manifestation of Infiniti’s new form language for an era of advanced powertrains.
The exterior features clear and concise lines with dynamic proportions. The cabin will take a minimalist approach, with a clean interior design enveloping the driver and passengers.
The concept also suggests future applications for world's first production-ready VC-Turbo variable compression ratio engine that boasts the torque and efficiency of a hybrid or diesel engine. VC-Turbo continually transforms, adjusting its compression ratio to optimise power and fuel efficiency, resulting in the smart application of power for greater driver control.
The Q Inspiration also points to the next phase in vehicle autonomy for the brand. New ProPILOT functionality will be included and act as “co-pilot” to free the driver from mundane and stressful driving situations.
"The premium sedan segment has become rather conservative," said Infiniti Global Division vice-president Christian Meunier. "The Infiniti Q Inspiration previews something that could appeal to a younger audience, who seek modern design and new technologies to inspire and empower them."
