KUALA LUMPUR: The Isuzu MU-X sports utility vehicle (SUV) has been officially launched that's set to attract urban buyers with its generous cabin, comfort levels and safety equipment.

Isuzu Malaysia has already received 300 bookings for the new MU-X, which is available in two variants – a 4x4 and 4x2 model, priced on-the-road including GST and insurance at RM164,970 and RM151,945, respectively.

The 4x4 variant comes with Isuzu’s intelligent Terrain Command four-wheel drive system that allows the driver to select 2WD (two wheel-drive) or 4WD (four wheel-drive) mode at up to 100kph via a rotary dial near the gear level.

To make the 4x4 variant visually stand out, it comes with LED daytime running lights, a rear spoiler and a muffler cutter for the exterior over the 4x2 variant.

Inside, amenities include automatic climate controls and a Blaupunkt multi-media navigation DVD player with reverse camera and a roof mounted rear DVD monitor with a USB port and capabilities such as Mirror Link, Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity.

In addition to cruise control, new owners of the 4x4 variant will be provided with a cargo organizer box and tonneau cover for the boot section.

Both variants use a five-speed automatic with sequential shift while paired to a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with Variable Geometry System (VGS) that provides 134bhp at 3,400rpm and 320Nm of torque from 1,800 to 2,800rpm.

The MU-X uses a coil-spring suspension system all-round – featuring a double wishbone up front and a 5-link design for the rear, while it rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with 255/65 series tyres (16-inch wheels with 245/70 series tyres instead for the 4x2).

For safety, the both variants of the seven-seater SUV comes equipped with two airbags, anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA) as well as electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control system (TCS).

Lastly, the MU-X also has folding back seats for better carrier configuration for people, cargo or both and also includes overhead air-conditioning controls and vents for the comfort of second and third row passengers.

The all-new Isuzu MU-X is now available in four colours of Titanium Silver, Cosmic Black, Uluru Brown and Splash White.
