LOS ANGELES: The BBC has suspended Jeremy Clarkson, the controversial host of hit motoring show "Top Gear," following a "fracas" with a producer.

The British broadcaster said Clarkson, 54, had been suspended "pending an investigation." The show, which is distributed worldwide, will not air this Sunday, according to a Reuters report.

Sources said he was alleged to have attacked the producer after finding that food had not been prepared after a long day at filming.

Britain's Daily Mirror identified the producer as Oisin Tymon, 36.

Last May, the BBC delivered a "final warning" to the presenter after allegations that he used a racist term while filming the show.

The BBC told him that if he made "one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time" he would be sacked.
