JPJ collected RM8.55bil in revenue in 2019 and 2018, says Transport Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) collected a total of RM8.55bil in revenue in 2018 and 2019, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
According to Dr Wee, the figure consisted of RM4.23bil in 2018 and RM4.32bil in 2019.
From the total revenue collected in 2018 and 2019, physical JPJ counters collected a total of RM5.03bil in revenue, which consisted of 58.82% of the figure, said Dr Wee.
“At present, JPJ physical counters are available in its 15 state headquarters, 65 branches and 19 Urban Transformation Centres.
Dr Wee was responding to Anthony Loke (PH-Seremban) during Question Time in Parliament, who asked about the total revenue collected from tax and non-taxation collections in 2018 and 2019.
In the same period, Dr Wee said a total of RM329.36mil was collected through its mySIKAP system while a total of RM3.19bil was collected through online channels by private companies.
“The services provided through the online channel by private companies include MyEG, POS Malaysia, Puspakom, Touch’N Go, e-Payment, e-Daftar, Puspakom concession fee and internet banking, ” he added.
According to Dr Wee, JPJ did not receive any revenue from its direct and indirect tax collections.
Dr Wee said JPJ’s revenue came from non-tax related collections such as the payment of service fees for the issuance and renewal of driving licenses, the registration of new vehicles as well as the payment of fines.
