KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 106 vehicles, including various units of Toyota Wish, BMW and Mercedes Benz, will be put on public auction on April 30.

Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Datuk Ismail Mohd Zawawi said the vehicles – 75 cars, 28 motorcycles, two lorries and a van – would be auctioned off at its headquarters on Jalan Genting Klang from 9am onwards.

“We will also hold a public inspection of the vehicles on April 26 and April 29 between 10am and 3.30pm.

“Most of the vehicles to be auctioned are cloned vehicles,” he told a press conference after the state-level JPJ Day celebrations today.

The auctioned vehicles are categorised as licensed vehicles (can be used on the road) and those that must be scrapped, he added.

“For the vehicles that must be scrapped, only licensed scrap metal operators are allowed to bid for them.

“The operators must also bring the relevant equipment and dismantle the vehicles at the JPJ office. We will prepare space for them to do so,” he said.

Those interested can obtained the auction documents at the department’s financial unit, said Ismail.
