KUALA LUMPUR: At this year's Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 (KLIMS'18), Hyundai's booth has an interesting offering to patrons with a virtual reality (VR) experience in driving one of their i20 World Rally Championship (WRC) cars.

The VR experience machine was flown in from South Korea to allow visitors to the show a three-minute 'taste' for free of what the rally car might feel like to drive through snowy plains and dirt roads with some standing water.

For Aiman Nabil who rode his Honda Wave 125i all the way from his hometown to the show was exceptionally thrilled.

"The experience was very realistic for me," he said while smiling from ear to ear. "It is a very realistic driving impression of a WRC car for me and I really want to go again, but the queue is quite long, so maybe a little later," said the 20 year-old student from Malacca .

As for Tan Shao Xiang, a 26 year-old executive from Petaling Jaya who attended this year's show with his 33 year-old banker friend, Tan Boon Chuan for the beautiful cars and brand representatives.

"This isn't my first time experiencing VR, but this is my first time experiencing a setup where half the car is moving and I think this is something that gamers would like very much," said Shao Xiang.

"For me, it wasn't as real as I had expected, but the suspension is very interesting to experience when you're bouncing from one hill to another in the game," said Boon Chuan.

Participating automotive brands include CAM, Citroen, Daihatsu, DS, Ford, Grand Max, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Lexus, Petronas Motorsports, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Proton, Tata, Toyota and UD Trucks.

Opening hours at KLIMS’18 are 11am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 10pm on weekends.
