KUALA LUMPUR: Besides the UX, Lexus is also showcasing at KLIMS'18 the seventh-generation Lexus ES executive sedan, which has an all-new design features an elegant, sharp and graceful outlook.

Its design accentuates the Lexus design language with the Spindle Grille. An all-new drivetrain that matches a new 2.5-litre powerplant mated to a direct-shift 8-speed automatic transmission (yet another Lexus first) offers linear and quiet acceleration.

For the driver, there's a highly-intuitive information system providing all the driving parameters through a large 12.3-inch EMVdisplay and a 7-inch TFT full digital combination meter.

A heads-up display - the largest in its class - reduces the amount of eye movement required thereby making driving safer.

Rear passengers in the ES will be able to luxuriate in a new power reclining seat whilecontrols for the sunshade, audio system and air-conditioning are available at the touch of a button on the panel built into the central armrest.

The ES is also equipped with the Lexus Safety System+, Lexus' state-of-the-art active safety system that combines various high-tech features that aims to prevent or minimize the severity of an accident.

LS+ Concept

The automated-driving capable LS+ Concept vehicle was first unveiled to the world at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show in 2017.

The LS+ Concept shows the future image of the "LS" flagship sedan. With its advanced yet dignified styling and automated driving technologies planned for application in 2020, the LS+ Concept was developed as a model that embodies the future of driving.

The LS+ Concept indicates the direction of next-generation Lexus design based on Lexus’ L-finesse design philosophy.

The LS+ Concept sports a boldly evolved Spindle Grille, with a large grille shutter that contributes to both improved cooling and enhanced aerodynamic performance, partly laser-lit headlamps, rear combination lamps, and electronic side mirrors.

Lexus envisions a world where everyone can enjoy safe, smooth and untethered mobility through automated driving technologies. To make this dream a reality, Lexus is researching the possibility of using automated driving from entrance ramp to exit ramp on motor-vehicle-only roadways using "Highway Teammate" automated driving technologies, featured in the LS+ Concept.

On motor-vehicle-only roadways, through appropriate recognition, judgment and operation by onboard systems in response to actual traffic conditions, these technologies allow drivers to enjoy automated merging, lane changes and diverging, as well as keep a vehicle in its lane and maintain vehicle-to-vehicle distance.

The LS+ Concept can communicate with a data centre to update its systems’ software, allowing new functions to be added.
