Kumho Crugen HP91 tyres as standard fitment on BMW X3s

FRANKFURT: It's all smiles at Kumho as it has sealed a contract to supply its Crugen HP91 tyres for the latest BMW X3.

The 245/50 R19 105W XL sized tyres are supplied direct to BMW’s American plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where the X3 is made. From there, the completed cars are exported to other countries.

Kumho tyres are already fitted to BMW’s 1, 2 and 3 Series cars.

The Crugen HP91 features silica tread compound which Kumho says ensures excellent handling in both wet and dry conditions. In the latest summer tyre test by German car magazine Auto Bild Allra, Kumho’s Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyre was commended by testers for its good traction on sand and mud as well as its excellent balance on wet surfaces.

However, Consumer Reports has offered a word of advice on UHP tyres. While such tyres are designed to handle the higher output of powerful cars, they don’t last as long as regular all-season tyres, it said, adding that they are also pricier.
