Latest Subaru BRZ is here

KUALA LUMPUR: Motor Image Malaysia, the authorised distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country, has introduced the refreshed BRZ.

The new BRZ (available in Crystal White Pearl, WR Blue Pearl and Pure Red) is currently priced on-the-road with GST without insurance at RM224,389 (manual transmission) and RM230,749 (automatic transmission).

It features a 2.0-litre DOHC four-cylinder 'Boxer' engine that helps sit the vehicle’s mass at 460mm above the ground, while helping to align the crankshaft perfectly with the drive-shaft.

With 200PS and 205Nm from the engine, it is managed by a six-speed manual (7.8L/100km) or automatic gearbox (7.1L/100km) before reaching the rear wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential.

The car sits on a fully independent suspension system and is touted to have TRACK mode.

There's been slight changes in the looks department that has helped improve aerodynamic performance along with some aesthetic upgrades to the C-shaped lamps, LED headlights, new front end, twin-tail muffler and 17-inch 10-spoke design aluminium-alloy wheels helps it stand out over its predecessor.

Inside, there's Alcantara inserts for the lowered seats and the rear seat's backrest can also be folded down to help accommodate a set of tyres or two golf bags as drivers get to peer at new instrument cluster.

For safety, the BRZ possesses seven airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill-start assist and vehicle dynamics control among others.

It also has a ring-shaped reinforced frame for better occupant safety, which has strengthened the passenger cabin from the roof to the doors, pillars and floor thanks to the predominant use of high-tensile steel,
