PETALING JAYA: Motorsport celebrity Leona Chin has added her voice to Waze in a long list of famous people who have been roped in to add some novelty to the app.

Chin had agreed to work with the community-based navigation app to help Malaysians stay safe during UN Road Safety Week, which runs from May 6-12.

Chin's Waze Voice option is only available in Malaysia and will be accessible for 3 months.

Chin would be giving Malaysian Wazers a dose of her bubbly personality as a new voice option to help Malaysians navigate more safely and efficiently while on the road throughout the country.

Dispelling the more serious and masculine bent in motorsports, Chin’s navigation voice prompts are cheerful to put drivers in a good mood as she informs about traffic conditions while offering drivers practical safety tips and reminders such as watching their speed and ensuring their seatbelts are on.

"I want all Malaysian drivers to remember never to take road safety for granted!”, said the professional racing driver who hails from Selangor.

You might recalled AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes also contributed his voice to Waze in September 2016. Other famous people or film characters who have worked with Waze included singer-songwriter Yuna, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, and C-3P0 droid from Star Wars.

On a side note, you could even use your own voice in Waze. Find out how to turn on Leona Chin's voice in Waze or your own in this link.
