SEPANG: Malaysian female driver Leona Chin of Tedco Racing scored a double victory after a pole-position start during the Malaysia Championship Series 2019 (M Production category) at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

It was a historical weekend for Chin after becoming the first female to qualify and win both race 1 and 2 over the weekend in a race-prepared Suzuki Swift.

She completed 21 laps of the 5.543km circuit in a total time of 1 hour 3 minutes and 47.438 seconds with the fastest lap of 2 minutes and 41.968 seconds.

After winning Race 1, an extra 30kg of ballast was added into Chin's race car, but it proved that it wasn’t an issue for her.

“With a well-prepared race car and a strong race strategy by Tedco Racing, everything worked as planned.” said the 32-year-old driver after the prize-giving ceremony.

Chin has been selected to be in the Talent Development Programme by Tedco Racing.

She is now looking forward to the second round of the race series, which will be held at SIC on April 19.

“Leona is a very talented race driver, I offered her a chance to race for my team this year and she grabbed it well by performing a very strong drive by winning both races over the weekend,” said Team Tedco Racing principal Reuben Wong.
