KUALA LUMPUR: Less than 20 minutes was all it took for 12 limited edition Volkswagen Beetles to get snapped up while being featured on one of Malaysia's popular online shopping site, Lazada.

Each of the Beetle was priced at RM112,112 (on-the-road with GST without insurance) with the first one being sold just 26 seconds after midnight.

VPCM had collaborated with Lazada to offer Malaysians 12 limited-edition Volkswagen Beetles on Lazada’s Online Revolution mega-sale from Dec 12 to 14.

Two limited edition designs were available, the “Herbie 53” in Pure White and White Silver, and the “Hot Bug” in Tornado Red.

To lock down their unit, customers had to purchase an exclusive RM5,000 'Welcome Kit' on Lazada, which also doubled as a pre-payment booking fee.

"We are delighted to have really pushed boundaries and made history with this collaboration – to be able to sell 12 cars within such a short period of time is amazing. This truly is a testament of how receptive Malaysians are when it comes to
online purchasing,” said VPCM managing director Erik Winter.

The limited edition Beetles, and all Volkswagen vehicles, come with a five-year manufacturer warranty and five-year roadside assistance coverage.
