What matter most to buyers is that this means the cars are now priced lower. The X1 sDrive20i (Sport Line) and xDrive20d (X Line) will be priced at RM 228,800 and RM 255,800 respectively. X4 xDrive28i will go for RM396,800.
The locally assembled models will be launched at BMW xDrive Xperience 2016 taking place across all BMW dealerships nationwide starting this weekend and continuing next weekend.
The event is being held to promote the X Series cars, an event promoting the five avaialble X models namely X1, X3, X4, X5 and X6. The five vehicles will be put through challenges via varying driving conditions and road surfaces to show off their performance and driving dynamics. Each participant who brings along three friends for the event will also stand a chance to win gifts.
In conjunction with the BMW xDrive Experience 2016 event, selected BMW Premium Selection Showrooms will offer a trade-in programme for pre-owned BMW X models.
BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Han Sang Yun said: “We are pleased to have received the customised EEV status incentives for the locally-assembled X1 and X4, similar to that of the 1 Series, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, X3 and 5 Series which we announced at the end of last month.”
Han said the company would share the benefits of the incentives with customers over the weekends.
X1
The X1 is now offered in two variants: X1 sDrive20i (Sport Line) and X1 xDrive20d (X Line). The X1 sDrive20i is for the first time, based on the new front-wheel drive platform, while a diesel variant is introduced for the first time.
In addition to a spacious interior and versatility, the second-generation X1 is equipped with the latest, four-cylinder engine from the BMW EfficientDynamics engine family and with front-wheel drive (sDrive) in the new BMW X1 sDrive20i (Sport Line). The X1 xDrive20d (X Line) features the an all-wheel drive system, which claims to be the fastest reacting and most flexible all-wheel drive system in its segment, allowing for maximum traction and optimum propulsion on slippery surfaces.
The range of driver assistance systems and infotainment equipment include BMW Navigation with 6.5-inch Control Display and iDrive Touch Controller for the X1 sDrive20i, while the X1 XDrive20d is equipped with an 8.8-inch Control Display with split-screen function and optimised rendering, Navigation Plus including Head-Up Display, and an iDrive Touch Controller. Both variants will also offer the Parking Assistant feature. Additional BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps include Remote Service, Concierge Services, and Intelligent Emergency Call.
X4
The X4 is fitted with four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, resulting in a high-revving character along with good power delivery, refinement and efficiency.
Driving aids includes new driver assistance systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Person Warning and Approach Control Warning – all of which can be accessed and activated by a touch of a button. Additional BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps offerings in the X4 includes BMW Teleservices, Intelligent Emergency Call, Concierge Services and Remote Service.
