PUTRAJAYA: Good news for long-distance married couples. They can now do inter state travel starting Jan 27, as the government relaxes the rules to allow them to meet.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that couples living apart due to work had made appeals to the government to allow them to cross state borders.

“The National Security Council special meeting has heard their appeal, and we have agreed to give some flexibility.

“They can now do inter-state travel to be with their spouse and family starting tomorrow, ” he said today.

Ismail Sabri said police permission is required before making the journey, and those with symptoms are advised to do a swab test first to ensure they are cleared from Covid-19 so as to not infect their family members.
