Lorry goes out of control, crashes into 14 cars at Jalan Duta, KL

KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-tonne lorry carrying sand went out of control and rammed into 14 cars at Jalan Duta near here.‎

The accident happened at about 4.50pm on Thursday in the middle of heavy traffic on the city-bound route during peak hour.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal Staff officer Deputy Supt Markandan Subram­aniam ‎said‎ the incident occurred when the road was slightly wet due to rain and the lorry was descending a downhill stretch of the expressway.

He said the vehicles hit were travelling on the fourth and fifth lane.

According to DSP Markandan, the lorry driver, 32, claimed there was a brake failure, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

He said there were no casualties in the incident. The case is being investigated for reckless driving.
