KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-tonne lorry carrying sand went out of control and rammed into 14 cars at Jalan Duta near here.
The accident happened at about 4.50pm on Thursday in the middle of heavy traffic on the city-bound route during peak hour.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal Staff officer Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the incident occurred when the road was slightly wet due to rain and the lorry was descending a downhill stretch of the expressway.
He said the vehicles hit were travelling on the fourth and fifth lane.
According to DSP Markandan, the lorry driver, 32, claimed there was a brake failure, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
He said there were no casualties in the incident. The case is being investigated for reckless driving.
