MAA expects stronger vehicles sales in November

KUALA LUMPUR: Vehicle sales rose 14.9% to 47,041 units in October 2017 from September and the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) expects the sales to be stronger in November 2017.

“Sales volume for November 2017 is expected to be higher than October 2017 due to new model launches and aggressive year-end promotional campaigns,” MAA said.

The trade body said on Thursday sales volume in October rose by 6,085 units from September, boosted by longer working month. Of the 47,041 units, passenger cars accounted for 41,668 units and the rest were commercial vehicles.

The sales volume in October 2017, however, was 1.8%. or 839 units lower than similar corresponding month in 2016.

Year-to-date, total industry volume was 1% higher than similar corresponding period in 2016.

Production was lower at 40,464 units compared with 53,084 units a year ago. Year-to-date, vehicle production dipped 4% to 421,635 units from 440,049.
