Matrix lights to get supermini-class debut on new electric Opel Corsa

FRANKFURT: Opel is getting ready to release its next Corsa — and of course, it's going to be electrified.

But what is more interesting is that the new five-door hatchback, set for an autumn release, will be the first in its segment to be equipped with so-called matrix headlamps, the manufacturer says.

The new Corsa, which will share a platform with the next Peugeot 208 among others, will also be available as a fully electric car from launch — another Corsa first.

With matrix headlamps, individually controllable LED elements continuously adjust the light cone to the traffic conditions so that the driver has the best possible view without dazzling the vehicle in front or oncoming traffic.

So far, Opel has only offered such headlamps in the compact and mid-size classes, like most other car manufacturers.
