LONDON: McLaren will be bringing the latest model in its Sport Series, the 600LT, to the starting line in October. Inspired by the legendary GTR Longtail from the 1997 F1 racing season, the 600 LT is based on McLaren’s 570S Coupe, but a full 25 per cent of its parts will be different, the manufacturer says.

Prices for the handcrafted limited-run series will start at US$270,500 (RM1.09mil).

Parts of the 600LT’s body have been designed for reduced weight, allowing it to shed 96kg as compared to the 570S. Under the bonnet, engineers have put together a tuned 3.8-litre V8 turbo with 600hp.

Even though McLaren has not provided any concrete figures on driving performance, that type of muscle should be enough for a top speed over 330kph and acceleration from 0 to 100kph in less than three seconds.

To let customers fully experience and exploit the car’s potential, the price also includes a day at a race track with professional guidance, the British carmaker said.
