SEPANG: In celebration of Mercedes-AMG’s 50th anniversary, Malaysia’s family of AMG vehicles now adds six new 43 series models to the current 45, 63 and 65 models.

The new Mercedes-AMG models are (prices are on-the-road with GST without insurance) :

With luxury and performance in mind, the new cars receive the standard fitment of a 3.0-litre (2,996cc) V6 twin-turbo engine mated to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC gearbox for their AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system (except for the SLC 43).

The engine (fitted with red aluminium inserts and the 43 badge) produces 367hp from 5,500 to 6,000rpm and 520Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,200rpm - allowing them to sprint from 0-100kph between 4.6 to 4.9 seconds (depending on model) before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.

Only the E 43 4MATIC's engine has been uprated to a different tune of 401hp at 6,100rpm and 520Nm from 2,500 to 5,000rpm.

The 9G-TRONIC gearbox of the 43 series models comes with double declutching function in Sport and Sport+ modes and briefly revs the engine to 2,000rpm in Sport+ mode along with a slightly higher idle.

Also fitted as standard is the AMG Ride Control sports suspension with AMG-specified axle components that feature Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes of continuous damping adjustment which can be activated by a dedicated button in the centre console.

Although the suspension system is able to offer a wide spread between a sporty driving experience and pure comfort, both the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe and E 43 4MATIC have been fitted with height adjustable suspension while the SLC 43 comes fitted with an AMG rear axle differential lock from within the AMG Handling Package.

Drivers will get to enjoy the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering wheel, which adjusts to the selected driving modes of either Comfort or Sport.

Except for the SLC 43, the all-wheel drive system has a rear-biased torque distribution of 31% on the front axle and the rest at the rear for better cornering performance and stability.

For an even more evocative drive, the sports exhaust system is allowed to let loose its noise restrictions when in Sport mode or keep things dialled down when performing a cold start or when in Eco or Comfort modes.

The notable fixtures and fittings of the E 43 4MATIC (the only one with 401hp) includes high-sheen 20-inch AMG five-spoke light alloy wheels painted in high-gloss black, two chrome-plated quad-flow exhausts.



There's also a silver chrome diffuser, boot lip in matching body colour and an instrument panel wrapped in AMG Nappa leather with black and red contrasting top-stitching.

As for the rear-wheel driven SLC 43 drop-top roadster, it gets more low-key -yet-sporty fitments such as a diamond grille, silver-chrome front splitter, A-wing design front spoiler, electro-hydraulic roof, keyless-entry and panoramic vario-roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL.



Touted as a 'racetrack limousine, the C 43 4MATIC is unique with its detachable body parts, silver chrome trim, matt iridium silver and high-gloss black as well as the two tailpipe trim elements in a twin-tailpipe design.



Externally, it is based on the AMG Line exterior and is augmented with specific features such as the diamond radiator grille with pins in chrome with "AMG" lettering, "BITURBO 4MATIC" badge on the front wings and the two tailpipe trim elements in a twin-tailpipe design plus silver chrome-coloured and high-gloss black detachable body parts and trim.

It also gets fitted with an AMG boot lip spoiler and rolls on 19-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels in high-gloss black with a high-sheen finish.

The cabin is contrasted by red top-stitching while drivers are greeted by a flat-bottom multi-function sports steering wheel, sports seats and an AMG instrument cluster with menu.

The sportier C 43 4MATIC Coupé on the other hand features a front apron with sporty distinctive air intakes, diamond meshes, silver chrome trim, as well as the rear apron with matt iridium silver diffuser insert.



The diamond radiator grille features chrome-plated pins, a louvre in high-gloss black and the AMG lettering, silver chrome front splitter for the cooling modules, black exterior mirror housings, high-gloss black waistline trim strip and window frame, as well as the two chrome-plated tailpipes with centre divider.

Into sport utility territory and it's the mid-sized GLC 43 4MATIC with its diamond radiator grille with chrome-plated pins, a louvre in high-gloss black with inserts in high-gloss chrome and the AMG lettering.



It also gets front air intakes, AMG front aprons, and silver chromed pins and front splitter, while the 21-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels are painted in high-gloss black with a high-sheen

There are also high-gloss black door mirror caps and the silver-coloured "BITURBO 4MATIC" lettering on the front wings as well as two quad-pipe chromed tailpipe trims.

Rounding off the new family members is the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé with its flatter-sloping A-pillars, independent sports suspension based on the multi-chamber air suspension system AIR BODY CONTROL with adaptive damping adjustment.



Up front resides a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and a louvre in high-gloss black with insert in high-gloss chrome and AMG lettering in high-gloss chrome as well as distinctive air intakes in the AMG front apron that feature fins in silver chrome and a silver chrome front splitter below that.

Other notable goodies include High-gloss black-painted, high-sheen 21-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, simulated front underguard and trim on the AMG rear apron in high-gloss black, heat-insulating dark-tinted glass starting from the B-pillars and the black chrome-plated tailpipe trim elements.
