KUALA LUMPUR: The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan (or limousine, as the German premium automaker prefers to call it) arrives in Malaysia in two variants: the A 200 Progressive Line and A 250 AMG Line at RM229,888 and RM267,888 (estimated) respectively on the road without insurance.

Both variants use a 7G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission, with the A 200 powered by a 1.33-litre turbocharged engine producing 163hp/250Nm while the A 250 has a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 224hp/350Nm.

Other than that, the main differences between the two A-Class variants are the exterior and interior trim, as well as comfort seats in the A 200 and sports seats in the A 250.



The new A-Class sedan is said to offer segment leading rear headroom (944 mm).

It has a 420-litre boot, and a large boot opening to allow comfortable loading and unloading.

The new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to feature the completely new MBUX - Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system.



MBUX is customisable and adapts to the user. Standard features include the MBUX infotainment system with touchscreen, and the latest-generation driving assistance systems such as Active Brake Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.

Also, for the first time, the A-Class is able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations.

Improved camera and radar systems allow the car to see up to 500 metres ahead.
