Mercedes-Benz attempts to lure in buyers with 48-hour test drives

LONDON: Following in the footsteps of Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz has introduced 48-hour test drives in Britain.

The longer period is to enable "customers to experience their potential new car in the real world", said Mercedes-Benz in a statement.

However, the extended test-drive offer only runs until July 31. In Volkswagen's case, its 48-hour test drive is ongoing and limited to the e-Golf electric car.

The Mercedes-Benz's 48-hour test drive initiative excludes AMG models, the new GLE, the new A-Class sedan and V-Class Marco Polo.

In the A-Class, B-Class and CLA, customers can experience the all-new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, with a touchscreen interface and "Hey Mercedes" which uses intelligent voice recognition to control key features.

"Our retailer partners offer this extended test drive exclusively to our customers, and it allows them to experience one of our latest cars on their terms," said Mercedes-Benz Cars UK marketing director Rob Halloway.
