Mitsubishi Motors to relocate US base to same state where Nissan is

LOS ANGELES: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. will relocate its headquarters from Cypress, near here to Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.

This move will begin in August, and be completed by the end of 2019. It had been based in California since 1988.

Mitsubishi's move highlights efforts taken across the entire global landscape of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance to bring the companies closer together in key areas including procurement, development and cost efficiencies.

The company chose Franklin as its new home because it allows Mitsubishi to focus on company-wide revamp and take advantage of the area's technology skillset, as well as realising cost savings through proximity to sister company, Nissan.

Mitsubishi has seen six straight years of annual sales gains. The last two years, with over 100,000 unit sales, have seen Mitsubishi retaining its "fastest-growing Asian brand" title for the second year.

The company was the most-improved brand in the entire J.D. Power and Associates' 2018 Customer Satisfaction Index.

At present, it has over 360 dealer partners in the United States. It would be adding 34 more.
