KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian police force has recently acquired 15 units of the 2.4-litre Mitsubishi Outlander.

PLUS Highway bought the vehicles and gave them to the police for traffic law enforcement on its highways.

“Safety is the Mitsubishi Outlander's strongest suit, befitting its role as a family vehicle. But now, we are delighted to know that besides being one of the best safety specced vehicles on the road, the Outlander is meeting every policing requirement to assist them with the enforcement of traffic laws on the highway,” said Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi during the handover ceremony.

“With many years of winning experience in the gruelling Dakar Rally under its belt, Mitsubishi is also a specialist in rugged 4WD vehicles. So with the Outlander’s safety function, power and stability, we are confident that the Outlander will do its part in assisting our policemen to eradicate traffic offences and eventually lower the risk of road accidents,” he added.

In a separate ceremony, the police also received eight Mitsubishi vehicles including the 2.4-litre Outlander and ASX compact SUV, contributed by another highway concessionaire, ANIH Berhad.

The total value of contribution made by the two highway concessions were valued at around RM3mil.
