KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, announced an increase in sales for its Triton pickup truck.
Despite experiencing a 21% downsizing in the market segment, the company's Triton in 2019 (Jan - Dec) recorded 5,792 units sold to mark a 2.4% year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2018.
Despite the shrink in market demand, the Triton was the only model that successfully achieved positive growth to expand its overall sales.
This made the Triton the number one sales growth pick-up truck in Malaysia and has managed to improve its market share by 3.8% to 16.5% from January-December 2019.
Since the introduction of the new Triton in Jan 2019 and has thus far managed to contribute a sizeable 71.2% of MMM’s overall business.
The latest Triton was launched with an updated iteration of the "Dynamic Shield" design concept as well as receiving a boost in its quality and safety features.
Subsequently, in November 2019, the company upgraded the range-topping Triton Adventure X and Triton AT Premium with more accessories available at all MMM authorized dealers.
The company also launched the new Triton Quest and limited edition Triton Knight to complete the Triton line-up.
The Mitsubishi Triton is still the only pick-up offering up to 200,000km or a five-year warranty where customers get to travel more with added peace of mind.
“MMM will continue to provide the best-handling pick-up truck from our flagship model, the Triton Adventure X to the Triton Quest 4x2 in order to meet our customer’s daily work and leisure requirements. We are confident of achieving our Triton sales target and that MMM will provide top-notch customer service to all its customers,” said MMM chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi.
Adding to that, Shinnishi indicated that the company also managed to rank number one in the J.D. Power 2019 Malaysia Customer Service Index (CSI) Mass Market Study for the second consecutive year over the last five years.
In terms of Sales, MMM is ranked in the top two within the 2019 J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study. - JAY WONG
