Mitsubishi refreshes Triton with MIVEC engine and more

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of the brand in Malaysia, has officially unveiled its refreshed Triton that now comes with more features, safety equipment and its Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system for its turbodiesel engine.

The six Triton variants are still imported as a completely built-Up unit (CBU) from the company's global production hub in Thailand and its on-the-road pricing with GST without insurance starts with the Triton Quest (4x2) with a five-speed manual transmission (M/T) - Pearl White only, at RM77,390.00.

The Triton 4x4, also with a 5-speed M/T, costs RM93,920 and adds Sterling Silver to the colour options.

Moving on to the Triton 2.4 VGT 4x4 pickup with a six-speed M/T costs RM107,600 and comes in Titanium Grey as well as Sterling Silver, while its five-speed automatic transmission (A/T) stable-mate costs RM114,400 and adds Pearl White to the colour options.

As for the Triton 2.4 VGT Adventure (5-speed A/T), it is priced at RM123,130 with colour choices of Earth Green, Titanium Grey and Pearl White, while the range-topping 2.4 VGT Adventure X (5-speed A/T) is priced at RM130,900 and is only available in Impulse Blue and Titanium Grey.

All 2.4-litre variants come with a five-year or 200,000km (whichever comes first) warranty and all Adventure variants are provided with seven airbags - allowing it receive the full five-star ASEAN NCAP crash test rating.

The revised Triton is being powered by the latest 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel light-weight aluminium engine with Variable Valve Timing technology and is coupled with a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) to help it 181PS and 430Nm along with a 15%-gain on fuel economy over its previous 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine.

Also, all Triton VGT variants now have active stability traction control system to help keep over and under-steer situations at bay during slippery conditions.

In terms of looks, the new Titon now sport a new dark chrome grille and newly-designed side steps to add to the usual standard features of automatic bi-xenon HID headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights on the VGT variants.

The Adventure X variant now gets fitted with 17-inch dual-tone alloy rims and a front bumper shield extender.

Lastly, the cabin is updated with a new instrument cluster, new four-spoke multi-function steering wheel, leather upholstery, eight-way powered driver's seat and a reverse camera.
