SHAH ALAM: Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) announced a more than 10% reduction in prices for its Pulsar RS200 and Dominar D400.

The new prices, effective March 8, sees the price of the RS200 reduced by 12% to RM9,990, (-RM1,360) while the D400 will now be priced at RM13,788 (-RM1,700).

According to Modenas' chief executive officer, Roslan Roskan, the reduction in manufacturing costs of both models is the reason for the price drop.

“Through improvements in our production process, we have managed to significantly bring down the manufacturing costs for the Modenas Pulsar RS200 and Modenas Dominar D400 models," said Roslan.

He added that the company is passing these cost savings to all two-wheel enthusiasts to make these popular models much more affordable in Malaysia.

The Pulsar RS200 is a fully-faired motorcycle, while the Dominar D400 is a sport-tourer.

Both models are fitted with a single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected DTS-i four-stroke engine with a single-overhead-cam.

The bikes are also equipped with ByBre front single-channel anti-lock braking system mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Both bikes also feature a strong lightweight steel frame as well as a uniquely placed underbelly exhaust for greater stability and better weight distribution to improve handling characteristics during cornering.

Apart from the price reduction, the company is planning to boost its sales by expanding its product portfolio and its reach through the opening of new dealerships.

There are plans to introduce five to eight new models (bikes and variants) to the Malaysian market for this year alone.
