STUTTGART: A slimmed-down, entry-level model of the first all-electric Porsche will soon be rolling out to dealerships in Europe, but even at a discount of €20,000 (RM98,220), it's still anything but cheap.

With a home-market price tag of at least €83,520 (RM411,000), the electric sports saloon's latest iteration first arrives in March with only one electric motor instead of two.

It also won't have any fancy extra letters after its name, and instead of a GTS, Turbo or Turbo S, it will just be a plain old Taycan.

This standard rear-wheel driven model with a basic battery produces 326hp and can reach 408hp in a quick overboost.

Porsche hopes buyers will pay extra for the optional Performance Battery Plus, which can drive further and rely on more power - 380hp as standard and up to 476hp at peak.

Regardless of which battery is on board, the driving performance is identical: The Taycan accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 5.4 seconds, and won't stop until it hits 230kph.

With the 79.2kWh of the standard battery, the Taycan has a range of 431km; for the 93.4 kWh of the larger battery, Porsche puts range at up to 484km (WLTP).

Drivers can charge it at up to 270kW, so that the batteries can go from 5 to 80 per cent in just over 20 minutes and, according to the manufacturer, the power for another 100km flows in 5 minutes.
