KUALA LUMPUR: Motordata Research Consortium (MRC) has become the ASEAN representative of Thatcham Research’s Global Associate member initiative.

Under the new agreement, MRC will act as a distributor of Thatcham Research’s other products and services across the ASEAN region and will provide outsourcing services for several UK-focused repair parts price projects.

In Malaysia, MRC will continue to use Thatcham Research’s PLAZA system to generate accurate repair times for Malaysian vehicles while having access to Thatcham Research’s wealth of vehicle research, data and services, which can be shared with its key stakeholders in the country.

The new agreement builds upon a decade-long relationship between the two organisations, which has seen MRC collaborate with Thatcham Research to provide vehicle repair times as the established standard within the Malaysian market.

Steve Miller, CEO of Motordata Research Consortium said, “Data is important in today’s fast-paced environment and the new agreement will ensure insurance engineers and repairers have instant access to the latest researched repair methods, recommendations and technical knowledge through MRC. This will help further our objective in assisting our stakeholders to provide Duty of Care to their vehicle owners.”

Neale Phillips, Global Product Director of Thatcham Research said, “I am delighted to welcome MRC as our new Global Associate member, following a longstanding and highly successful partnership. We are committed to support its needs and those of its insurer and industry stakeholders as we work together to expand our reach across ASEAN, at a time when vehicle technology is changing rapidly”.

The Global Associate Member status for MRC is a new category established to enable international companies to benefit from and contribute to research, supporting Thatcham Research in its goals of improving car safety, security and repairability at a global level.
