KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has appointed Won-Chul Yang as its CEO, effective Feb 12.

Yang joined Mitsubishi Corp (MC) in Seoul in 1992.

From 2003 to 2006, he was the manager of MC Tokyo and moved on to become the director of strategic planning and coordination in Mitsubishi Motors Sales Korea Ltd.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry.

Prior to becoming the CEO of MMM, Yang was the company's senior vice president of strategic planning and coordination since 2012.

During his tenure, the company went through a milestone launch of Mitsubishi Motors’ first locally assembled vehicle, the ASX compact SUV in Malaysia.

“We believe that Yang’S strong automotive experience, passion and commitment towards Mitsubishi Motors will continue to drive the brand and company in Malaysia to the next level,” said MMM chairman Tan Sri Marzuki Mohd Noor.
Yang replaces Tetsuya Oda, 49, who was killed in a road accident here last December. The late Oda had been heading MMM since July 2010.
