KUALA LUMPUR: Boon Siew Honda surprised market watchers by choosing Malaysia as the first country in Asia and the Oceania to launch three coveted CBU models early this week.

On Sunday, it unveiled the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Honda GL1800 Gold Wing, and the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin as well as CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Boon Siew Honda managing director and CEO, Keiichi Yasuda, said the launch of these flagship models in Malaysia ahead of other markets attests to the country's importance to Honda.

He added that the decision to introduce these models is to further strengthen the Honda big bike range in an already impressive product line-up.

Yasuda remarked that: “Our ability to offer these models align with our dream to excite the world”.

Priced at RM198,800, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is a brand-new from ground up to deliver precision experience on the circuit riding, with unprecedented levels of performance and control.

Its inline four-cylinder engine draws heavily on the RC213V-S’s combustion efficiency and low-friction technologies.

In fact, the engine is completely new and designed with heavy input from the HRC MotoGP development programme to deliver peak power of 159kW and torque 112.7Nm.

As for the 2020 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing is available in Pearl Glare White only for RM208,800, it aims to redefine touring comfort.

For those who prefer things off the beaten track, the CRF1100L Africa Twin (RM98,888) and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sport (RM111,888 for manual, and RM117,888 for auto dual clutch transmission) promises an even more refined ride through rough terrain.

All bikes will be available by the second quarter of the year at authorised Honda dealers.
