SEOUL: Hyundai will be bringing the fourth generation of the Santa Fe to the starting line by August 2018.

The Korean carmaker’s upgraded full-size SUV will premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show in March, and, unlike its predecessor, will only come in one variant.

With a length of 4.77 metres and wheelbase of 2.77 metres, the new Santa Fe falls between the shorter and longer models of the current generation. This same logic should also apply to the price, which has not yet been announced, but is expected to start at just over 42,000 dollars.

Featuring larger windows and broader visibility, the new generation also offers space for an optional third row of seating and, depending on the configuration, at least 625 litres of cargo space. New safety features include a lock on rear-passenger doors when a vehicle is approaching from behind.

According to Hyundai, four engines will be available under the bonnet. Buyers can choose from a 2.4-litre petrol engine with 185 horsepower, and three diesel engines: a 2.0-litre with either 150 hp or 182 hp, and a 2.2-litre with 197 hp.
