STUTTGART: Drivers are mostly familiar with the Mercedes Citan as a leisure activity van. However, in its next iteration, it will be reborn into two versions: one for businesses, one for families.

Just like with the Vito and the V Class, Mercedes will target businesses with its commercial model of the Citan, while the roomier T Class will be aimed at families. As with the current generation, the technical basis for these new versions would be provided by partner Renault with the Kangoo, which will be renewed in 2021.

After criticism of the last Citan, and especially of the X Class, which was taken over by Renault and Nissan, Mercedes wants to focus on more individuality this time, and according to information from company circles, will go deeper into the metal and equipment list.

There will also be another drive option available this time around, says the manufacturer. In addition to diesel and petrol engines, there will be a purely electric version on offer for the first time.
