NILAI: Photos showing a large number of cars parked on the emergency lanes on both sides of the Temiang-Pantai Highway went viral on social media on Sunday.

In confirming the event took place, Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman said in a Facebook post today that the group were believed to be members of the FCCM-FC Club Malaysia – an auto club – who had pulled over to the emergency lane of the highway on Saturday to take pictures.

The long line of cars numbered almost 50.

Supt Mohd Fazley said Nilai police will call up some individuals from the group soon to have their statements recorded.

"We will call up the club head first and so far we have identified about 48 cars.

"Stopping and parking a vehicle on an emergency lane without a valid reason is an offence as it can pose a danger to other road users," he said.
