Avalable in either single body colour or two-tone body colours, the Serena J IMPUL is priced at RM147,800 (OTR inclusive of SST, without insurance) and RM149,800 respectively, making it the most expensive variant. It is at least RM16,000 more than the base Serena.
The Serena J IMPUL comes with chrome-plated J IMPUL front and rear lip spoiler and black 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the MPV, the seats have been rewrapped in mocha-coloured diamond quilted leather.
To recap, improvements to the 2.0L engine have resulted in the best-in-class fuel economy of 14.2 km/l, earning the Serena the status of Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) for the Malaysian market. The naturally aspirated fuel-injected 4-cylinder engine produces 148hp at 6,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 4,400rpm.
As a mild hybrid, the Serena has a larger starter motor than a regular hybrid. The 2.5hp and 48Nm ECO motor serves as a torque assist motor and helps the engine get off to a brisk acceleration. The starter motor also acts as an electric power generator that charges up the secondary battery. Its third role is to facilitate the Serena’s Idling start and stop system.
The MPV features a hands-Free dual power sliding door, dual back door, 7 USB-powered ports, Around View Monitor with Intelligent Moving Object Detection, and smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay. The Around View Monitor technology uses four cameras that provide a 360° bird's-eye view of the vehicle for easier navigation and parking. Intelligent Moving Object Detection detects and alerts the driver to moving objects surrounding the vehicle.
