Nobody needs 1,900hp — Pininfarina's electric Battista has it anyway

FRANKFURT: Two million US dollars (RM8.1mil). That's the price of getting to 100kph in 2 seconds on electric power. The Pininfarina Battista is set to offer ridiculous amounts of street-legal power this year to anyone with too much money.

The most impressive feature of this hypercar is its ability to race purely electrically at speeds of up to 350kph.

Pininfarina is launching the Battista in mid-2021 with prices in its home market of Europe starting at €2.38 million (RM11.6mil). Yes, prices only start at 2.38 million euros.

Only 150 models of this electric supercar are being produced, the Italian company announced on the sidelines of test drives in February with a largely final prototype.

It's the company's first car of its own, after more than 90 years of commissioned work for all sorts of renowned manufacturers in the horsepower industry.

Pininfarina is relying on a type of drivetrain that has never quite existed before and with one motor per wheel, the Battista can manage 1,900hp. According to the manufacturer, this makes it the most powerful car ever built in Italy.

The maximum torque of 2,300Nm will make you one with the driver's seat as the car sprints from 0 to 100kph in less than two seconds, only stopping to accelerate once you hit 350kph.

The battery, with a capacity of 120kWh, is the largest on the market to date, Pininfarina says. Despite weighing significantly more than two tonnes, the Battista is supposed to achieve a standard range of over 500km.

The Italians even want to perform at the charging station and with 250kW charging power, the Battista will charge back up to 80% battery in less than 25 minutes.
