SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor has announced that its order books have opened for its refreshed Vios at all authorised Toyota showrooms nationwide.

The enhanced Vios is available in three variants starting with the entry-level 1.5J estimated to cost RM75,700 while the mid-range 1.5E is at RM85,674 and finally the range-topping 1.5G at RM89,232.

The estimated prices are on-the-road without insurance and with the current sales tax exemption that will last until Dec 31.

The company says that the prices will be announced soon and those keen are able to book the Vios online from today onwards by logging on to www.toyota.com.my.

A standard five-year warranty with unlimited mileage will cover the Vios, and new owners will be able to add on the optional Toyota Service Savers of either a five-year / 100,000km (RM3,220) or three-year / 60,000km (RM2,080) service package.

This year, two new colour choices of Orange Metallic and Platinum White Pearl (+RM400) join the previous offerings of Dark Blue Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and Silver Metallic.

The key areas of improvements for the Vios are its sportier styling cues as well as a more extensive list of safety equipment.

At the front, those with a keen eye will notice the new bumper and grille that's supported by a front lip and flanked by a new triple bezel full-LED headlights with integrated daytime runners.

The headlights also feature a follow-me-home function as standard for all variants to add greater safety and convenience for all.

Performance from its 1.5-litre (1,496cc) 2NR-FE engine remains the same at 107PS at 6,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 4,200rpm.

The continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven-speed Sports Sequential Shiftmatic mode and paddle shifters still helps to deliver the punch to the front wheels.

For comfort and convenience - again depending on the model variant, the Vios will also feature automatic climate controls and an electrochromic rearview mirror.

Owners will also have the opportunity to select a few optional accessories at the time of placing their order and can add a few more goodies to their new Vios.

With the "Tech-Up" list of options, new owners of the entry-level 1.5J variant can opt for the DVD-AVX package which includes a reverse camera (RM2,150).

Also, a wireless charger (RM550) and a vehicle telematics system (VTS) for RM2,000 - which includes the device and a one-year subscription, are also available.

For those looking to own the 1.5E and 1.5G variants will not be able to opt for the DVD-AVX package and will already have VTS installed as standard and will include a one-year subscription which is in line with the company's direction to enhance Connectivity under its 360-T Plus brand experience.

Budding owners of the 1.5E and 1.5G variants, however, will be able to opt for a rear digital video recorder (RM350) and a wireless charger.

All three variants will be able to choose whether or not to fit the Style-up package (RM2,800) that will consist of a front and rear bumper spoiler, side skirts and a boot lip spoiler.

Lastly, new owners of the 1.5J can add the Toyota Premium Security and Solar Film (RM2,120) while the 1.5E and 1.5G will come fitted as standard.

Depending on the variant, the safety equipment of the Vios now includes Japanese carmaker's suite of advanced driver aids system - Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).

Although the company is keeping mum about specifics, it would be most likely that TSS would be found as standard in the range-topping 1.5G variant by including pre-collision system (PCS) and lane departure alert (LDA).

Once PCS is activated (from 15kph onwards), the system will help to reduce the risk of a collision with a preceding car by alerting the driver once it detects a vehicle is within range of a collision.

The PCS can assist the driver by helping to reduce the vehicle's speed as a form of added support.

As for LDA, this system is activated from speeds of 50kph and above and alerts drivers to unintended lane changes by giving a visual alert on the car’s Multi-Info Display as well as a beeping sound. LDA can be deactivated at the driver's discretion.

These new systems will join the existing safety equipment of the Vios which includes seven airbags (the most in its segment), vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Other standard safety features include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist as well as front and rear digital video recorders (DVRs).

The enhanced Vios will also feature an all-new 3D 360-degree panoramic view monitor, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and connectivity options (including Bluetooth).

“The enhanced Vios has an even more dynamic presence with a front silhouette that is consistent with models such as the Corolla, Camry and the recently-enhanced Yaris. Yet, despite this strong family resemblance, the Vios projects its own unique personality that has made it popular with a diverse demographic of buyers,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Ravindran K.
