PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia has officially opened its order books for its facelifted Civic ahead of its official launch towards the end of this year.

Budding customers are able to place a booking for the Civic at all 98 Honda dealerships nationwide.

The Civic is still locally assembled and remains powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged engine producing 173PS and 220Nm of torque and still mated to a continuous variable transmission (CVT). A 1.8-litre naturally aspirated variant is also available.

This year, the Civic is being offered with the full suite of driver-assist technologies - Honda Sensing but it's restricted to the top version, namely the 1.5 TC-P. The addition of Honda Sensing is expected to bump up the price of the range-topper, which currently stands at nearly RM129,000.

As an indication of how much Honda Sensing will jack up the price, the 1.5 Turbo RS with Honda Sensing costs Thai buyers an extra RM16,000. Honda Thailand has been selling the new Civic since January this year.

The technologies comprise eight features that include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS).

There's also Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Auto High-Beam (AHB) – all of which will provide Driver’s Cruising Aid, Frontal Collision Deterrence and Side Collision Deterrence.

It will also be equipped with LaneWatch camera which uses a camera-based technology in favour of blind-spot monitoring that enhances the driver’s view of traffic on the left side compared to using only the side view mirror.

Other standard features include Remote Engine Start, Electric Parking Brake and the latest feature - Front Sensor.

Standard safety features including six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and ISO Fix anchor points.

Gracing the exterior of the Civic are its newly designed front bumper, rear bumper garnish, boot lid spoiler, blackened front grille and new 18-inch wheels.

“The Civic is the third Completely Knock-Down (CKD) model from Honda Malaysia to be introduced with Honda Sensing which offers a complete package that we believe will be attractive to customers in Malaysia," said Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Toichi Ishiyama.
