JOHOR BARU: Over 100 suspects have been arrested in a month-long statewide operation to combat vehicular theft in the state, says Johor cops.
Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said the suspects were arrested during the Ops Lejang between June 21 and July 21.
“The focus of this operation includes workshops, shops selling spare parts and those selling second-hand vehicles across the state.
“Throughout the operation, we have arrested 110 local and six foreign suspects, including four women, believed to be involved in various vehicle theft cases,” he said, adding that the suspects were 16 to 59 years old.
“The operation also foiled eight vehicle theft syndicates,” he said.
He said the police also seized 81 vehicles, including 25 cars, one van, four lorries and 51 motorcycles during the operation.
“We have also seized 13 motorcycle frames, 30 vehicle components and all kinds of tools used to steal the vehicles,” he said.
