KUALA LUMPUR: The government has collected RM810,300 in fines for vehicle registration plate offences from Nov 1 last year until Jan 31, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said 12,161 summonses were issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during that period.

"Guidelines and specifications on vehicle registration plates are clearly spelt out under road transport regulations," he said in a written reply to Teresa Kok Suh Sim (DAP-Seputeh) in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

He said the specifications must also be heeded for any new vehicle models to be registered in Malaysia and details could be accessed at www.jpj.gov.my.
