Pagani Huayra now in roadster form

ROME: According to Pagani CEO Horacio Pagani, "this is the most complicated project we have ever undertaken," when commenting about the roadster version of its Huayra supercar, with only 100 units being built. Unfortunately, all of them have already been purchased.

That's right, the Italian supercar creator that brought us the Zonda, has put its Huayra coupe under the knife and sliced off the roof to help put some air through the hair (or scalp), while having a base price that starts at 2.28mil euros (RM10,996,440) before anything bespoke touches it.

The new addition to the Huayra stable now has a removable roof made with a combination of glass and carbon fibre, while the exterior's mainly carbon fibre panels have been dipped in an "ink-insh blue" colour that helps the many curves, cut-outs, fins and vents on it to become more pronounced.

It still maintains use of the a 7-speed sequential gearbox mated to a 6.0-litre (5,980cc) Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo 60-degree V12 that's a little more powerful than the coupe at 764hp at 6,200rpm and 1,000Nm of torque from 2,400rpm.

With a dry weight of 1,280kg (70kg lighter than the coupe), the supercar with a targa roof rolls on 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) forged aluminium alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero Corsa or Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres.

All that means is that the roadster will not only out-accelerate the coupe's 2.8 second century-sprint time, but also stop in a shorter distance with its set of six-piston (front) and four-piston (rear) callipers biting down on the four ventilated 380mm Brembo carbon ceramic discs.
