KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua Sales is continuing its oil partnership since 2003 with the signing of a five-year agreement worth RM355mil with Petronas Lubricants Marketing to supply it with 17 million litres of engine oil - a 21% increase over the previous contract.

The contract renewal will see Petronas luanch and subsequently provide a higher grade of engine oil (available in September with price) that exceeds the API SM standard for Perodua customers servicing their vehicles at independent workshops or on their own.

The national oil company says that their new and improved engine oil will provide higher levels of wear protection, resistance to oxidation and carbon deposits.

While having better fuel efficiency and performance over the oil's service life, the oil drain interval will be extended to six months or 10,000km (whichever comes first).

"We realise that some of our post warranty customers have moved on to service their own vehicles, that being said, we have invested a lot of resources to improve our operations and we hope that they will give Perodua another chance,” said Perodua Sales managing director Dr Zahari Husin.

According to Zahari, Perodua looks to target an intake of two million vehicles this year at its 189 service centres nationwide - an increase in intake of 40,000 from 1.96 million in 2015.
