Petronas Dagangan Bhd and customers donate RM50K to charity

KUALA LUMPUR: In the spirit of giving and sharing during the holy month of Ramadan, Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) contributed RM50,000 to five charitable organisations namely Rumah Kasih Harmoni, Rumah Kebajikan Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Rumah Titian Kaseh, Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih and Persatuan Orang Buta Malaysia.

Part of the donation amount came from customer's contribution through the purchase of Iftar@Mesra pack, which was made available during the Ramadan month.

The Iftar@Mesra pack is an extension of PETRONAS' Mornings@Mesra programme customised especially for the fasting month, containing chocolate bars, dates and a mineral water.

For every purchase of the Iftar@Mesra pack priced at RM5, 50 cents are channeled to the needy.

Speaking about the initiative, PDB's head of retail Business, Aadrin Azly said, "The Iftar@Mesra is a new initiative by us to provide our customers the convenience of grabbing something light especially when they are on the road and unable to make it home in time for buka puasa. At the same time, we are pleased that part of the sales of the Iftar@Mesra pack is channeled to a meaningful cause and we would like to thank all those who have contributed to the programme."

"PDB is also adding on to the amount collected so that each charitable organisations will take home a total of RM10,000 today. It is hoped that this contribution would help relieve some of the financial burden incurred especially for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration," he added.

The RM50,000 will reach about 450 less fortunate comprising children and senior citizens and will help towards the home's expenses.

About 150 invited guests, including representatives from the homes, were also treated to a sumptuous Iftar following the handover ceremony.

The Iftar@Mesra pack is still available for purchase until 16 June 2018.
