Peugeot will roll out at least five new models in Thailand over the next few years.

The Peugeot franchise in Thailand was previously held by European Motor Cars Co, which had been importing and distributing Peugeot and Citroen cars for the past 47 years. European Motor Cars Co is controlled by the Leenutaphong family.

The 3008 and 5008 would be imported from the Naza Automotive Manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah, which was set up in 2004 following a joint venture agreement  between Groupe PSA and  Naza Corporation Holdings. In February last year, both companies agreed to upgrade the plant into an Asean manufacturing hub.

It now exports cars to the Philippines; Thailand will be its next export market in the coming weeks. Peugeot now operates in 11 countries in the region.

The Gurun plant also assembles the Kia and Citroen for the local market.
