STUTTGART: Porsche has created a special series of the 911 Carrera and Boxster: the Black Edition.

The standard equipment on the 911 Carrera and Boxster models includes Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation module, automatically dimming rear-view mirrors, rain sensor, cruise control and Sport Design steering wheel.

Standard equipment on the 911 Carrera Black Edition model includes 20-inch diameter alloy wheels, automatically dimming rear-view mirrors, rain sensing windscreen wipers, cruise control and Sport Design steering wheel.

A rear-mounted, flat-six cylinder engine is a symbolic component of the 911 identity. The 911 Carrera Black Edition is powered by a  3.4-litre power plant developing 350hp. It is offered as coupé and convertible versions, and with rear-wheel drive or Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive.

The special model rides on 20-inch diameter ‘911 Turbo’ style alloy wheels and further graphic differentiation is provided by LED headlights including the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+). The black interior looks sophisticated, with driver and passenger sitting on heated seats - with the Porsche crest embossed on the head restraints - and the standard Bose Surround Sound System installed.

In addition to the special Black Edition features, standard equipment on every 911 Carrera includes leather interior, sports seats,  7-inch colour touchscreen, universal audio interface offering MP3 connectivity, automatic climate control, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), Porsche Vehicle Tracking anti-theft system, three year warranty and three year roadside assistance package.

The Boxster Black Edition is a mid-engine roadster powered by the 2.7 litre flat engine with 265hp. The colour concept remains consistent when it comes to the soft top and rollover protection bar, which are both in black. The wind deflector helps to avoid turbulence when the soft top is down. The 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels and the bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) set distinctive highlights. The driver and passenger can enjoy a higher level of personal comfort with the two-zone air conditioning and heated seats. The sound system in the Boxster Black Edition is the high-quality Sound Package Plus.

The Black Edition models started selling this week in Germany, with the Boxster Black Edition going for 59,477 euros; the 911 Carrera Black Edition comes in four variants priced from 95,058 euros to 111,956 euros.
