STUTTGART: The allure of a Porsche 911 is hard to resist and well-heeled buyers will soon be snapping up the hot new revamped version which rolls into showrooms in early 2019.

The lightly retouched exterior gives the 911 drop-head a fresh look and its arrival comes only weeks after the latest generation tin-top Coupe version was revealed.

First off the blocks is the Carrera S variant with a powerful 450-hp engine which enables the supercar to storm to beyond 300kph before it runs out of urge.

The rear-wheel Porsche 911 carries a price tag of €134,405 (RM637,000), with the Carrera 4S, four-wheel drive version available at a premium.

The key change for 2019 is the rejigged folding fabric hood which Porsche has fitted with improved hydraulics. The lid pops up in just 12 seconds to satisfy fresh-air fans.

The S cabriolet is only the start, says Porsche and the German maker plans to offer the drop-head as an entry-level, 385-hp version soon as well as a turbocharged model. A Targa with a removable roof section is also in the pipeline.
